In 2012 I achieved MLitt European Studies: Languages, Cultures and Society from the University of Glasgow.
I’m a CELTA qualified teacher of English as a Foreign Language, and a level 1 certified UCU branch rep. Outside of freelance writing, I work in further education as a librarian and archivist.
From 2012-2014 I was a regular reviewer for Rock A Rolla Magazine. Prior to this, I self published a blog Devil, Can You Hear Me? and was a freelance critic for The Quietus. In the intervening years I worked as a personal tutor and English teacher, both at home and in Spain, returning to freelancing in 2020.
I also have experience of broadcasting. I presented Worst Chips Ever and the Hand Loom Lament Radio Hour on Subcity Radio, Glasgow between 2010-2012. I currently co-host the Puro Pourri Podcast, an irreverent take on the world of Japanese professional wrestling (puroresu) and my own show on the Neon Hopsice focusing on underground, avant and D.I.Y sound and music.
